Chris lyons - Performance Coach

Meet Chris Lyons, an Irish strength coach with a great passion for strength training and powerlifting. He is currently in the final semester of his fourth year of a Bachelor of Sport & Exercise Science and is completing his undergraduate thesis on barbell velocity. Chris also holds Level 3 Fitness Instructor and Level 4 Personal Trainer certifications, providing a strong professional foundation for his coaching.

Chris has been powerlifting competitively for just under four years and coaching for three years. He has competed internationally on two occasions, representing both his country and university at the 2025 University European Championships and University World Championships. He has completed numerous academically relevant modules to strength training and powerlifting  including functional anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, sport psychology, nutrition, and kinesiology, all of which directly inform his coaching practice.

Chris is deeply passionate about coaching and takes pride in seeing his athletes progress both on and off the platform. He thrives on working with lifters who are committed to the process, open to learning, and willing to communicate building long term progression. His coaching style is centred around structured progression, accountability, and data driven decision making, ensuring every athlete is supported with a clear plan and purpose.
