Meet Yoong, a dedicated coach with a passion for strength training and powerlifting. Currently in the final semester of a Bachelor of Health Science (Sport and Exercise) and holding certifications including Cert 3 and 4 in Fitness, a Diploma in Youth Work, and Cert 2 in Sport and Recreation, Yoong brings a wealth of theoretical knowledge and practical expertise to the table.
With over five years of competitive swimming experience and a background in Oztag and Rugby League, Yoong discovered strength training and powerlifting after an ACL injury reshaped their athletic journey. This led to immersion in gym environments supporting swimming and rugby league teams, paving the way for a multifaceted approach to strength and conditioning.
In 2023, Yoong undertook a pre-season internship at Corrimal Cougars Rugby League Football Club, where they honed skills in sport-specific strength and conditioning. Responsibilities included developing rehab protocols, conditioning blocks, and implementing hydration and exercise testing protocols. Previous roles as Assistant Coach at Blacktown City Swimming Club further enriched Yoong's coaching repertoire, spanning from 2016 to 2018. Athletically, Yoong holds a number of State Records across the 76kg and 84kg weight class. She is the former 76kg Junior State Champion and in 2023 was ranked #2 AUS Overall Best 84kg JNR.
Passionate about coaching individuals interested in strength training and powerlifting, Yoong is eager to work with clients aiming to enhance athleticism and overall fitness. While still expanding expertise in combat sports, Yoong welcomes clients eager to delve into strength training and powerlifting, offering tailored guidance to foster growth and achievement.
